Days 6 & 7 - Catch Up

Day 6

It's been a busy couple of days.  The Little Girl kept Mom busy and me too!   I enjoyed the stroller rides, but after the 10th time around the house I was getting dizzy.  Little Girl stopped to pet the cat and I decided to make a break for it.  I sprang up with my strong legs and lovely orange feet and 'boing', I jumped right out of that box and onto the floor!  Yippee!  After that there was no keeping me in the box!   Little Girl went home.  It was kind of quiet after that, but I needed a rest!

After my nap, it was time for a swim.  A ducky's got to stay fresh.  Mom took me out of my brooder and I followed her outside to the pond. I stay really close to her.   She lifts me up and puts me in the water.  'iiieee!  The water was COLD.  I flapped my wings and chirped my loudes,t fussing to get out!   Mom scooped me out and dried me off.  Then she set me down in the warm sun.  Nice.  I looked around for stuff to eat and explored around under the chair where Mom was sitting having her coffee.

I've learned a new trick!  I like to slurp up some water from my nifty water dish and then squirt it out of my mouth like a fountain!  It makes a great mess!  Mom kept saying 'how is water getting all over the place?'  I wasn't going to tell her!  Early this morning,  I was kind of bored and thought it would be fun to do the water squirting trick again.  So I slurp up some water and squirt, more water, more squirts - this is fun!  Then I look up and....oops, there's Mom watching me.  Busted!

My Boy got his learners permit today!  We celebrated by wrestling around on the floor.  I pinned him down with one wing tied behind my back.  WIN!  Then I gave him a big kiss to let me know that I'm proud of him.  Maybe he'll take me cruising around once he is allowed to drive with ducks in the car.  I wonder when that will be?

Day 7

I've been watching The Dog Max.  He's an interesting fellow, but won't give me the time of day.  When Mom tries to get him to come over to see me, he just turns his head away with an 'hurrumph'  or he flips his tail and goes outside.  I think he would really like chase me round, maybe have a little nibble of duck a'la fresco, or in the very least, pull out some of my fluffy tail feathers!  But I think he knows that once I'm grown, I'll be chasing him and he's trying to stay on my good side!

These have been some beautiful Spring days.  Flowers bloom painting even the most humble garden with shades of every color.  Trees unfurl their leaves and reach for the sky.  The sun is gentle and just warm enough for a sit and soak.  And little eggs hatch!  Thank goodness.  I'm one lucky duck!
